    Why take part?

The Foundation largely relies on the support of our wonderful community who fundraise for us and who take part in our events, in order to meet the running costs we need each year to carry out our work. By taking part you will be helping us:

    • To celebrate Paul Ridd’s birthday with a special day bringing together as many people as possible.
    • To raise awareness of the Paul Ridd Foundation and the work we do.
    • To raise sponsorship money, you will help us to help people with a learning disability across Wales to access equal healthcare.

When Paul died in January 2009 there was little understanding of his needs. Staff saw his disability not our wonderful brother Paul. There were no Learning Disability Care bundles, no LD Logo, no LD liaison nurses or LD Champions and very little training on treating patients with learning disabilities. Since 2009 we have worked with all Welsh Health boards, Mencap, Welsh Assembly government, carer groups, primary and secondary health staff, people with LD and their families to make changes and work towards equal health care for everyone.

We have recently provided Learning Disability Logo packs for every hospital ward and department in Wales. We support Learning Disability Champion training and provided information packs for all hospital staff who want to become Learning Disability Champions. We also want to provide a Learning Disability Hub which will provide support and online training for all staff, families and carers of people with learning disabilities.

During our Fun Run & Picnic Day we want to raise awareness on the work of the Foundation. We want this to be a fun day. If you would like to be join us register now.

    Sponsorship

There is no minimum amount of sponsorship. Every pound you raise helps us with our work. The more you can raise the more people we can reach.

We would like to see a time when every hospital in Wales and in the UK has the tools, training and support they need to provide equal healthcare for all patients with learning disabilities. .
