    The Learning Disability  Logo

We created a Logo to be used as a gentle indicator to hospital staff that their patient needs a little extra care.Paul Ridd Logo Large - June 16

Our logo has been officially adopted as the logo to represent adults with learning disabilities across Wales.

…the speech bubble speaks for the person…

…the people are in the centre of the logo symbolizing people centred care…

…the traffic light colours follow the traffic light system of care in the Care Bundle…

    Learning Disability Ward Logo packs

We have been fundraising to provide Learning Disability Logo packs for every hospital ward and department in every hospital in Wales. We would like to thank all our supporters for their very kind donations and all our volunteers who have given up their time to help us put these packs together.

These packs contain a number of visual aids for hospital staff to use with their patients with a learning disability.

    Packs contain:

    • A4 sheets of circular adhesive stickers for use on the wristbands and hospital notes of patients with a learning disability
    • Laminated speech bubble shaped logos for attaching to the wall above the patient’s bed
    • Magnetic speech bubble shaped logos for use on main ward board of patients’ names and on patients’ lockers
    • A poster to display on hospital ward walls for hospital ward visitors. More copies can be obtained by emailing us at our office in Baglan.

When should the stickers and magnets be used?

Hospital staff need to provide dignified person-centred care and treatments. On arrival into hospital, as the  person-centred care plan is developed with the patient, primary carers and/or family, the patient who has learning disabilities, primary carers and/ or family can chose if they wish staff to be aware of their learning disability.

Only if they chose to make staff aware then the at-a-glance discreet identification tools in this ward pack can be used.

It is also important that the Care plan is communicated and shared with all ward team members and the Learning Disability Champion(s) if the ward or department has one.
