We have been very busy getting organised for our roadshow event in Swansea which we are co-hosting with Mencap Cymru. We have spoken to lots of people and invited lots of groups, but please feel free to come along as the Swansea Scout & Guide Hut is massive so there is plenty of room for everyone! If you know of anyone with a learning disability, family or carer, please do share our event with them. As a reminder, it is on Monday 17th October, anytime between 10.30am-3.30pm and light refreshments will be served all day. For further information, please do get in touch.
We are always so grateful to everyone who supports us as we are reliant on the generosity of fundraisers and also those organisations that give us small grants. If you would like to fundraise for us, please do get in touch as we are always happy to help with ideas!
We had another great morning with Nesta Narbad, one of the acute learning disability liaison nurses at Cardiff & Vale UHB, sharing learning disability awareness, and Paul’s Story with a wonderful group of second year Adult & Mental Health nursing students. We have received some amazing feedback from the students including the following comments: “this is essential learning for all student nurses”, “this was an eye-opening session”, “one of the most powerful external speakers we have had on the course”, “shows the importance of providing person-centred care” and lots more! We are always so thrilled to hear comments like this as we know the difference hearing Paul’s Story will make to the practice of these health professionals in their future careers.
