February has flown by, maybe because it has been a very busy month!
We continue apace working on the relaunch of our presentation of Paul’s Story, with Paul Harris, which we believe will be even more impactful than the current training. We are very grateful to Paul for his commitment and his creativity!
It was very interesting to meet with Joanna Dundon who is working on the NHS Wales app and to hear all about its use and how it is being developed and expanded. For people with a learning disability it will be really useful as their health profile could be added to it and other resources. They also have a user research panel survey within the NHS Wales App to find people who would be keen to be involved in patient facing digital services research, so if you would like any further information, please do get in touch with us and we can pass on your details.
It was a pleasure to meet with Susan Kingman from Hijinx theatre company again as we are both determined to be able to do some work together at some stage! The work that they do is exceptional, and their training videos are so engaging and impactful. We heard about their work at Cardiff School of Medicine and how they provide actors for the 4th year communication module. What a difference this must make!
As I have mentioned before, since Covid and the cost-of-living crisis, it has been extremely difficult to fundraise as we always used to do but we have been lucky enough to receive some grants from funding organisations. This month we have applied for 2 more grants and we are hopeful for success so that we can continue our work supporting people with a learning disability to access equal healthcare.
We ended the month sharing Paul’s Story with over 85 first year nursing students at Bangor University, from adult, mental health, learning disability and child nursing. It was lovely to receive some positive feedback immediately and we are very grateful always to be given this opportunity to speak with their students. Thank you Bangor!
