The Main Purposes of the Care Bundle

The main purposes of the Care Bundle are to ensure that a patient with a learning disability is quickly identified on arrival in hospital; that there is full and open communication between the patient, family & carers and all medical staff; that there is person-centred and dignified care and treatment and that there is effective review and discharge planning for the patient. The ‘care bundle’ was developed to help NHS Wales health boards and trusts to be consistently alert to, and to respond to, the needs of people with learning disabilities, and their families and carers, when they access general hospital services.
